Great Book, Nice Deck
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
But I really wish the cards were bigger. There is so much detail in them or at least the books tells me there is but some of it is just lost due to the smallness of the cards. I love the book but would not have made the cards a part of my collection if I had taken the time to view them in person first at a store.
Vague, excellent for dream
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
How beautiful this deck is! I have been in a lot of struggle to buy this or not. Finally, I cannot resist anymore. The cards are slippery and easy to shuffle. i wish the picture could be larger because some of the symbol is so small my eyes hurt. The book is easy to read and stick to basic interpretations. Clear and concise. I like the part on spreads, a lot of useful love spreads, but the part on intuition of each card does not surprise me, I can do that myself. On reading, I find the message is a bit vague. Seems like the message can change anytime. Hence, I will not ask this deck for advice on important manners. But on dream interpretation, it is excellent and can generate many insightful message of the unconscious because of its freedom in definition. Overall, I hope this deck’s message could be clearer so I can use it more often since the image is really so breath-taking I almost fall in love with the figures like the Empress.

Came on time in perfect condition. Is exactly what I hoped for. Was less $ than in my local bookstore.
Beautiful artwork
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This was the frist Tarot deck I ever got. The cards are beautiful and don’t have any nudity(ecpect for a little on the lovers card)
The book that comes with it gives you these little notes on each card that ask you something to think about when you look at that card.
Though Some thing did anoy me, how small the pictures are so its a bit hard to look at all the deatails, and the cards do get damaged easyly I had ny cards for a week and they were already starting to show damage on the bottom. And I found it a bit hard to shuffle them(but thats probably just me)
All and all it is a good deck but I wish they would have printed them on stronger stuff.
Paris Hilton Goes Goth
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I love Tarot decks, and I buy them as much for the artwork as for the divination. I adore my DruidCraft, Spiral, World Spirit, Victorian Romantic, and other decks. What drew me to this deck were the mixed-media/collage-style artwork and the positive reviews. Unfortunately, I disliked this deck immensely upon looking through the cards. The people appear disingenuous and disassociated from the setting in which they find themselves. All the people have stringy, frosted-looking hair. All are caucasian, most are blond, and all but one look to be under 25. I’m sure this deck would hit the mark with the 18-25 year-old angst-ridden, goth-leaning crowd. But for a 42 year-old mom who values diversity, this deck seems shallow and without heart. There is no vitality here. A few notable examples:
The Hierophant — A young man looking sideways at something. He is either beckoning to someone or twirling his hair absentmindedly. He appears far too young to be wise about anything, and his countenance gives the impression of cunning and guile rather than “divine wisdom,” as asserted in the accompanying book.
The Lovers – What in the world? David Bowie and Paris Hilton as wax mannequins, looking up at a wax mannequin moon or sun, it appears. No love here that I can see. No emotion at all, really.
Strength – Looks like a fashion magazine shoot. The lion looks bored, and the woman representing Strength looks more concerned with sexiness (with a “come-hither” playboy pose) than strength.
Other thoughts…
I like how the borders have torn-looking edges, but the yellowish-greenish-brown color of the borders is not attractive.
My set arrived MISSING two of the Queen cards and ALL of the King cards, and INCLUDING 13 DUPLICATE cards. So, if you get this set be SURE to go through all the cards.
This is not a set I will be keeping.
beautiful artwork, mostly. artist got lazy on a few cards

(this is my moms account just so you all know)
The Mystic Dreamer Tarot was my first tarot deck even though i have recently bought two more decks but i mostly use this deck.
First off i’m going to say, overall, i love these cards. (my favorite is the judgment card at the moment) there are two cards i dont like: the queen of wands and the strength card. the queen of wands was not well done, her crown is a complete afterthought and, to put it simply, the girl on the strength card looks like a slut. (and i have to say the high priestess looks like the white witch from narnia)
i use these cards almost daily. they can be a little hard to get used to, but with the help of the companion book (which is great and very thought provoking by the way.. see lower) its easy to catch on quick.
To anyone who is interested in this deck, i would say, they are a great buy for divinatory use and most of the cards for art purposes. they are full of mostly blond and brunette females and when it comes to guys, its not great. but like i said before, they serve more purpose for divination than art.
On a practical level, the mystic dreamer deck is fairly easy to read once you use them a bit. the companion book includes intuition questions for every card. you can really find the story behind the card. for example, in the death card, there is a young girl in the background and one of the intuition questions asks something along the lines of if she sought out death or stumbled across this place. i looked back to the card and instantly thought, she doesn’t know what she is looking for but she was drawn there after being lost (mentally or physically or both).
These cards are very easy to relate to everyday situations and very accurate. just give them love and appreciation and this deck will make a great tarot companion=]
A delightful deck
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I must like this deck I bought 4 sets, 2 for me & 2 for gifts
I can’t say more than that about it – I’d not buy so many decks
if there was any part of it that didn’t delight me
Love the gentle side but with that gentle side comes a tougher
side of the cards but none that I find revolting
Great book
It’s a love hate with this deck, for me.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’m not really a beginner with Tarot cards, but till recently, I haven’t branched out of using my Rider Waite and Thoth decks. This set called out to me, for a few reasons.
Here’s what I love. I love the collage look of these cards, and the dreamy darkness. They’re dark without being spooky, or too doom and gloomy. Some of the imagery is straight up gorgeous. I love the book, and how insightful it is. I love the questions to ask yourself about the cards, and some of the spread ideas, I like how she handles reversals, too. I got some great ideas from the book. I like the edges and backs of the cards. The look of them immerses me into the feel of flipping through a magical tome. I also love how easy they are to shuffle. It’s a small thing, but an easy to shuffle deck makes a big difference. I love some of the models, using people of varying shapes and sizes was nice, and in some cards they really added to the overall meaning.
Some of the things that trouble me with this deck, now. I sometimes like the imagery of the moon and ravens, but I feel that it was overused. Those images showing up on every card somehow dilutes their meaning, and became distracting to me. I read in the book, that the artist used birds to allude to intuition and imagination, which is great, I think every card in every Tarot deck in the universe should be interpreted with intuition and imagination. I found myself hung up on trying to figure out the different formations of the birds, and if they meant anything, or the position of the moon, and ulitmately I got a little bit frustrated at these elements.
My one other main complaint is the use of the figures. Like another reviewer, I felt that many of them were disconnected from the card, from what was going on in the card, or didn’t do anything to represent the complex meanings. There were a handful of cards, where the people in them seemed an afterthought. I got a lot out of the background, but the models were window dressing. I too, would have liked to see more diversity in their age, and ethinicity, but that’s sort of a personal thing.
I feel, because of these two things, a beginner would have a tough time with this deck.
I like the look and feel of these cards, I like the theme, and I genuinely enjoy flipping through them, doing small readings, and spending time with them. There are a few things that I wish were different, but overall, I like it, and would like to see more from the creator of this deck.
EDIT UPDATE: Ok, I was a bit harsh, at first. This has become my constant companion. It’s like a warm, fuzzy black sweater. Dark, but totally nonthreatening. I’ve done a mess of readings with it, and it even makes the bad news easier to handle. Very comfortable deck, flaws and all. I guess I can relate to it on many different levels.
Dreamy & Beautiful Tarot!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this tarot deck–it is inspiring and beautifully done.
I own many tarot decks and this is one of my favorites. To give
you an idea of my taste, I really love the work of Kris Waldherr (Goddess
Tarot) and Karen Mahoney (Tarot of Prague, Victorian Romantic Tarot, etc).
I really like the Queens in this deck, especially the Queen of Cups.
Also, the Temperance card is lovely, and very evocative. There aren’t
really that many decks that you want to use regularly, that really
speak to you, but for me this is one of the decks I USE and don’t just
enjoy for the art work or the gimmick. That said, I DO think the artwork is exceptional, and touches the subconcious with it’s poetic moons and
landscapes.
I recommend this deck, especially for women. There is something sensual in the images, and I think you will enjoy the journey and discoveries
that it will help you to explore.
Nice artwork stifled
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I waited with anticipation for this deck to come out, watching it’s progress on the artists website. The artwork is lovely, unfortunately you still need to go to the mentioned website to appreciate it. The cards have an awful greenish-brown border which makes the images smaller, so that much of the detail is lost. The colors also seem muddy in comparison to the original art. For instance on the Star card, the detail of the rocks is completely gone and looks like a black mass. On the 4 of cups card, there is a castle, burro and stag in the background but you need a magnifying glass to see them. Unfortunately, this is true of quite a few other cards. This could have all been fixed by Llewelyn, who should have eliminated the border entirely and perhaps even made the cards bigger. Barbara Moore is an excellent writer, but I find her “use your intuition” questions in place of the cards interpretation rather bothersome. This is an art deck, with design based on the artists aesthetics and the availability of stock photography. There is no huge deep meaning behind trivial details such as yellow flowers. Which is really OK; there are plenty of traditional Tarot decks where the details truly are significant, so if that is what you are looking for, this is not the deck for you.
The first manipulated deck that I’ve ever liked.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
For a long time, I have disliked photo/art manipulated cards for anything- oracle or Tarot. Usually the images amount to having all the feeling of a poor done Halloween parade.
In this deck’s case, the images are beautifully done; you can only clearly tell a few have been actively altered. Sadly this is among the court cards, so that was a bit of a hard hit but the rest of the cards are quite lovely. I especially adore the Magician.
I should note this is no where near a traditional Tarot deck. It follows the general Rider-Waite set up, but this particular deck follows a heavy emphasis on surrealism and dreamscapes, hence the heavy usage of ravens and moons in many of the cards. Also, as another reviewer has noted, this deck is very heavy on the female side; between the number of women in the cards and the moon appearing frequently, the male side is heavily downplayed in this deck.
If you are looking for a deck to use to learn traditional Tarot, from meanings to symbolism, I do not recommend this deck. If you are wanting a new spin on some of the traditional meanings with a heavy leaning to the surreal, this is a very good deck. The cards are beautiful for the most part and the dream symbology used in place of the more typical Tarot symbology is quite nicely chosen.
I should note I did not care for the book that accompanied this set, but I have long admitted to being no fan of Barbara Moore’s works on Tarot.
Beautiful deck
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The title of this deck really suits it. I was struck by how much the photos of cards available on the internet to advertise this deck really reminded me of my own dreams; because of that, I was pretty sure I would be able to interpret them without needing a book. Of course, when I did a reading, I checked my impressions against the book’s descriptions, and they were the same.
This is one of the prettiest decks I have seen, and it does seem to read rather well, too. The other reviews here pretty much say it all. Like another reviewer, I wish the borders were slightly smaller, so the pictures could be larger — but the borders are still lovely. My only real complaint is that the cards are very thin, and I feel I am going to have to be extra careful not to damage them or wear them out.
Beautiful, insightful deck – one of my favorites
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The images are veautiful and a delight to behold. They also provide a powerful sense of meaning to each card.
Gentle, Insightful deck
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Of all the decks I own, I get the best readings from this one. From the first up until now this is my most reliable by far. I am using Mystic Dreamer in a presentation to teach tarot and my readings are amazing, accurate, and easy to teach with in a classroom setting. I like the images on the cards and the dreamy feel to the landscape. The big moon and birds flying in the background gives me a sense of peace.
Own/use one and bought a second for gift.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The artwork is mystically beuatiful, with an emphasis on the feminine and the moon. The imagery follows fairly close to traditional decks, but there are some differences which does make difficult for serious students of Tarot and Qabalah. So if you are just starting to study Tarot, including what traditional “authorities” intendended to teach, then this is not the deck start with. But I recommend this deck for those that appreciate the beautiful art of this deck’s theme.
