A must-have for serious astrologists
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you’re looking for a playful and light book about astrology, then this book is NOT for you. This book is quite serious and academic with tons of valuable information. It delves quite deep into the history of astrology and this forms the foundation of this book. It’s written and reads like a text book. As an amateur astrologer, I found this book very helpful and I have recommended it to anyone who is rather serious about learning astrology. It’s a must-have for anyone wanting to approach their interest in the stars and their horoscopes with any degree of seriousness.

Complete Overview in one book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have learned so much from this book. Very well written and explained. Very comforting philosophical discussion as well on the universe and our place in it. Goes through everything thoroughly and has an outstanding bibliography at the end for further study. Strongly recommended for those wanting a thorough overview & understanding of astrology.

An excellent resource
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve read earlier incarnations of these texts over the years and am pleased to see it all collected in one volume. The writing is clear and easy to understand. This is a great book for beginners. Once you master the basics, I would highly recommend Horary Astrology Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis to further your education in classical astrological techniques.

A must have
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve had a copy of COMPLETE ASTROLOGY by Alan Oken since the early 1990s and it just keeps on delivering relevant and useful insights into the astrological field. I haven’t yet been able to absorb all the wisdom contained within it, every now and then new passages leap out which I could’ve sworn were not there before.

Plenty of ‘a-ha’ moments in this book, including much material that dove-tails into other disciplines such as sacred geometry and occultism in general.

I’d give COMPLETE ASTROLOGY six stars if it was available, and I’m not even a practicing astrologer! What’s even better is that you can now purchase the revised and updated 2006 edition – so go for it.

Regards,

Daniel John Hancock

..’The book’ for getting the basics ..and more !
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
A real direct approach to astrology with a feeling caring attitude. Most books are harder to understand and ‘turn off’ the student/reader.Mr. Oken has been able to ride over this hurtle and present the subject matter in both an esoteric referenced context and relatable to the science as it pertains to you. Go for it..it is actually 3 books in one..a great deal ..and even better via amazon.com!!

Great book for the beginning astrologer

I have several books on astrology but this is the first one that shows you how to cast a chart like a professional astrologer. I was amazed by his excellent writings regarding astronomy v. astrology.

No Astrology Reference Library is Complete Without This Book.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book, hands down, is the most recommended book for serious astrologers as well as those that are more than just curious, those that want to delve a little deeper. This is definitely in my top five of most valuable books on astrology.

Great teaching tool
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been teaching astrology for years and have recommended this book to all of my students. Another good teaching tool is Karma and Your Sun Sign by Joan Kilgen. Thanks to these authors for making our teaching easier.
